Balfour's design a Christmas Card Competition 2020
Congratulations to Malaika at Alston Primary School for her winning Christmas card entry! A representative from Balfour said it was so great to see Malika's face when delivering her bike on 14th December 2020.

2019/20 Music Mark School Member!
They've done it again!
Alston Primary School have been nominated again by Services for Education for the value that the school places on music and have become a Music Mark School Member.
Congratulations go to all the children and staff at Alston for all the hard work they have done to ensure that pupils are able to access and engage with a high-quality music education.
Music Mark works to enable members, and the wider music education sector, to deliver high-quality musical and social outcomes for all children and young people.
Winter of Compassion
Children from Alston Primary School showed care and compassion by working really hard to ensure that the less fortunate did not go hungry. They worked really hard to collect food for local food banks in the area and collected over 425kg of food.
The school received a thank you letter from the House of Commons and a certificate to thank them for their fantastic efforts!
Well done Alston for all your hard work!
Special Announcement!
During a singing session with the Standing Ovation Project, students at Alston Primary School were filmed singing their merry hearts out and enjoying yet another after school club.
They will be featuring on CBeebies new TV series called Do You Know? Catch them performing on Channel CBeebies, Friday 3rd May airing at 4:30pm.

Silver Rights Respecting Award!
Alston Primary School were recently awarded the Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award from UNICEF after a successful assessment visit in September.
The assessor graded the school on how they teach about children's rights as set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
As well as touring the school, the assessor spoke to children, staff and parents about the work they have have done to put the
rights of the child at the very heart of the schools ethos. They look forward to starting their journey to become a Gold Rights
Respecting School! September 2018
Children sing Christmas carols at Heartlands Hospital and raise £166.76 for the hospital's Christmas Appeal!
On Wednesday 5th December, children from Alston Primary School set off to Heartlands Hospital eager to help raise money for the hospitals Christmas Appeal.
With lots of smiles and a heart felt performance, the children raised £166.76 and received a certificate of appreciation from Fundraising Officer Sabrina Hussaine.
The money raised will go towards helping to provide Christmas hampers for staff and patients to enjoy on Christmas day and also toys for children who have to stay on the ward on Christmas day.

Alston Primary School become Music Mark members!
Alston Primary School were recently nominated, and supported financially by Services for Education. They recognised the value that the schools place on music and requested that they became a Music Mark School Member. The Headteacher Mrs Nott received their membership certificate that was signed by the CEO of Music Mark Bridget Whyte.
Music Mark works to enable members, and the wider music education sector, to deliver high-quality musical and social outcomes for all children and young people.
